This symbol originates from ancient Chinese understanding of how life works and maintains stability. The two shapes within the circle represent the interaction and balance between two energies - yin and yang. Yin is black - dark, passive, receptive and feminine - whilst yang is white - bright, creative, active and masculine.
The idea is that, just as in life, not everything is completely black or white. The two energies compliment, and cannot exist, without each other.
Mentions of the yin yang concept can be found in the I Ching and in forms of Chinese medicine. The symbol is very popular today and is used by many as an expression of their beliefs, as well as a mere decorative image.

These mini incense discs are perfect if you'd like an incense burner that's practical, simple and doesn't take up much room. They're ideal for Indian incense sticks which have a thin wooden stick at the end, but I would say they may not be as suitable for Japanese incense (these tend to be a bit too thick).
Burn more than one incense stick at a time for an amplified scent, or mix a few combinations and create the perfect aroma! (You may not wish to burn four at once, but the option is there should you need it!)
Because the incense is burning at an upwards angle, this should catch most of the ash, but you can leave a protective sheet underneath the disc if you're unsure. The Yin Yang design in the middle makes this just that bit more special, and any ash that lands on the brass can be easily wiped off.
A practical and sturdy incense burner that's great for everyday use, and for taking with you on your travels should you need.

Excellent Incense Burner
I got this delightful little product to use as a base to place my Black Cast Iron Incense Resin Bowl on, that I got from Holisticshop. The cast iron pot gets very hot when burning charcoal and I was worried it would mark my shelf. So I got the wooden circular base and it works wonders for the purpose I intended for it.
