Excellent Illustrations
Review of Old Pre-2005 Edition Everything about this deck is beautiful! From the sturdy wooden box, with its intricate pastel coloured Celtic Knot-work illustration, through the 120 page hardback instruction manual and stunning 25 card deck - all excellently illustrated by Vanessa Card. Although the authors are listed as Liz and Colin Murray, Colin sadly died before the book was written and Liz was doubtful as to whether she could keep going at all, let alone start writing a book. As it happens she has made it a very imaginative and thoughtful tribute to Col and a striking, artistic tool that we all can share. The introduction is a tremendously enigmatic mythological riddle - with the promise that once you've read the first chapter you will have all the answers, so go on - take up the challenge! In terms of use you can get started straight away and learn as you go which is great for something of this quality and size. The Oracle comes complete with a 'Reading Sheet' which should be photocopied before you start for future readings. Included on it is a record with a brief meaning of each card. There's also a small record pad so that you can give the querent a copy of the reading and your interpretation. The cards are laid out in three circles of five cards with the instruction to fill in the symbol, letter or name of each card in the order shown. You then transfer this to the right hand column (a little like double entry book-keeping), adding the condensed meaning for each card, plus your own thoughts. Before you know it you have your very first reading using the Celtic Tree Oracle and if you are anything like me - it won't be your last.
