Abalone Shell - Sustainably & Ethically Sourced
The Abalone Shell is a traditional vessel in which Native American herbs and smudges can be burnt. The shell is great for leaning burning sticks in while they are burning and also with the addition of sand or earth can be then used to help extinguish them afterwards. Also loose herbs or the broken ends of smudge sticks can be placed in the shell for burning, again with or without sand or earth.
(Please do not leave burning smudge sticks unattended. If in doubt, just place the stick, that you think has gone out, outside where you can retrieve it later).
Size: The dimensions of the abalone can vary between 2-3" inches at the widest point, and much larger ones at 6-7" at the widest point.
As these are a natural product, the size and appearance can vary depending on what is avaliable at the time.
Please note that whilst we do quality check these shells, as these are natural products, very minor chipping / scratches / imperfections do occur. Variations in size and colour are normal, as well as 'imperfections' around the edges and the surface. It is common to find algae deposits which can simply be brushed off under the tap.
Sustainability
We receive our abalone shells from South Africa, Mexico and Vietnam where they are farmed. They are not caught from the wild. So the supply is sustainable and does not destroy any natural habitat or wild abalones. The meat is popular in Japan and is exported there. Then the shells are sold for various uses including to us.

Order by 3pm Monday - Friday (excluding public holidays) for same day dispatch. No delivery at weekends or bank holidays, orders dispatched on Friday will be delivered on Monday. A signature is required. The exact price is based upon the weight of items in the basket.

Choose between Royal Mail post (cheaper and slower) or DHL (more expensive and faster).
• Royal Mail to Europe 3-6 working days after dispatch - from £4.20 (2 kg max.)
• DHL to Europe from 1-2 days after dispatch - from £19.96.
• Royal Mail to Outside Europe 6-10 working days after dispatch - from £6.48 (2 kg max.)
• DHL to Outside Europe from 1-2 days after dispatch - from £25.00.

The Abalone Shell is quite simply, beautiful. The colours are incredible and the pattern of the shell's exterior is as beautiful as the inside. It will be a valuable tool and I've already received comments about it, from guests to my house!
